This project entailed the complete restoration of an 8-bedroom summer cottage in Southampton, Long Island located roughly 800 feet from the ocean and built in the 1870s.

We consolidated the rabbit warren of a kitchen, originally built as the disjointed and scattered domain of household servants, into one centralized, multi-functional space.

We added ample seating for guests and copied the glass-fronted cabinets of the original butler's pantry.
|
|
|
In the master bath, we installed a period bead-board dado painted white to complement the original claw-foot tub. For an up-to-date convenience, we installed a contemporary shower with a glass enclosure.

|
New cedar shingles and clapboard, with a season's worth of weathering, took on an age-appropriate patina. The detached garage was re-oriented and rebuilt to allow room for a changing room and bathroom close to the in-ground pool.
